Meet Alexander Silva (Alex) our General Manager & Production Supervisor. Alex has been with Gourmet Gold Coffee since 2014 having started out as a casual packer for the first 6 months before accepting the General Manager Role.

Alex works closely with Peter handling a lot of the finer details within the business as expected of a General Manager. Alex keeps projects moving forward and on schedule maintaining communications between all parties involved.

Customer service and quality control are always forefront with everything Alex does. Over the years Alex has developed his coffee palate and he will often be found dialing in coffee profiles and working hand in hand with Geoff and Tom with blend development and sample roasting when required.

Alex also handles green bean procurement, HACCP Audits, stock and inventory, pricing and sales management.

When not focusing on coffee and the many aspects of the business he’s involved in, Alex can often be found chasing his 2-year boy around the Canopy up in Lane Cove. In his spare time Alex also enjoys playing records and dabbles in music production and plays Futsal (indoor soccer) once a week.

When asked what his favourite quote was, he quickly shot back “Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth” Albert Einstein.

Alex’s preferred Gourmet Gold blend is Two-Eleven, and loves his double shot lattes and short blacks. This isn’t a surprise as our Two-Eleven blend is perfectly balanced with enough strength for milk-based coffees and enough brightness and sweetness for your black coffees. If you share Alex’s love for a great balanced coffee that doesn’t get lost in the milk but also shines as a black you can try some of our Two-Eleven here.

Alex also enjoys his V60 pour overs and single origins and is always on the hunt for something special for those small batch singles whether it be for espresso or filter roasts.

When asked what he loves the most about working at Gourmet Gold he promptly responded “I like the family values that Gourmet Gold Coffee maintains within the business. When new clients come on board, they quickly understand that they’re not going to be treated like another number”

Alex aspires to continue helping the Gourmet Gold Coffee family to grow and move into a new era supporting its 3rd generation coming up the ranks.
